Evacuations underway due to Piney Fire burning near Carmel Valley
CARMEL VALLEY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The Monterey County Sheriff's Office says evacuations are being conducted along parts of Carmel Valley Road and all of Martin Road due to the Piney Fire.
The county says Carmel Valley Road in the Jamesburg area, including a portion of Hastings Reservation Road and Martin Road are being evacuated.
This includes the Hastings Natural History Reserve.

Cal Fire confirms they're responding to a fire burning along East Carmel Valley Road near Tassajara and Martin Roads.
The Sheriff's Office says evacuations are being conducted on the 38000 block of Carmel Valley Road and all of Martin Road.
The county currently has some evacuations listed as a warning but the sheriff's office says their deputies are actively evacuating the areas.
Cal Fire says the fire has grown to 180 acres.
A temporary evacuation point is being set up at the Carmel Valley Library at 65 West Carmel Valley Road.
Smoke could be seen from the Country Club Heights 1 (Carmel) camera and the Pinyon Peak camera.
According to Cal Fire, the fire is wind and terrain driven at this time and there are some structures near the fire.
This fire is burning close to where the River Fire burned back in 2020.
