Carmel-by-the-Sea hosting public meeting to discuss Overhead to Underground Power Line project
CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Carmel-by-the-Sea city staff were scheduled to host a meeting Monday regarding potentially converting overhead power lines below ground, but the city announced the meeting is canceled.
According to the city, electrical issues at City Hall forced them to reschedule the meeting to a later date.
Converting overhead power lines below ground is something the city has discussed multiple times in the past.
The meeting was originally scheduled for Monday, September 16 at 2:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers at City Hall on Monte Verde Street between Ocean and Seventh Avenues, but has since been postponed.
An agenda report from the city shows staff will also discuss the establishment of a Carmel Underground Utility District in the TBD meeting.
It also shows some potential undergrounding project locations which include the following areas:
- The Del Mar parking lot at the west end of Ocean Avenue.
- Mission Trail Nature Preserve along the west side of the park between the 11th Avenue entrance and Rio Road.
