Santa Cruz Police responded to the intersection of Mission and Laurel Street around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police said a vehicle traveling south on Mission Street hit a 22-year-old pedestrian in the road.

Investigators said the pedestrian was taken to a trauma center in San Jose but didn't survive.
