APTOS, CALIF. (KION-TV)- The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office released more information regarding an incident in Aptos on Monday.

According to officials, The California Highway Patrol was involved in a failure-to-yield incident with a vehicle. During that time, the sheriff's office was requested to investigate a crime that happened prior to the pursuit. The suspect eventually came to a stop near Clubhouse Drive and St Andrews Drive. Despite officers efforts to de-escalate the situation and take the suspect into custody, they fled again.

Based on the crime that happened and other options that were available, officers didn't continue to pursue the suspect. Officials say they know who this person is and are actively pursuing the options they have to make an arrest.
