CHP Santa Cruz arrest convicted felon and registered sex offender

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CALIF. (KION-TV)- Santa Cruz CHP says they arrested a convicted felon and registered sex offender on numerous felony charges on Wednesday.

According to officials, officers found a stolen gray Dodge pickup in the area of Lee Street at West Beach Road. When officers tried approaching the vehicle, the vehicle fled which led to a pursuit. The driver of the vehicle, a 42-year-old male from Watsonville whose name wasn't given, evaded CHP officers as they approached Watsonville.

The car chase ended in Watsonville on Sixth Street when the male tried to flee on foot but was unsuccessful. As officers apprehended the man, they also found a loaded, unregistered firearm on him.

The man was taken into custody for felony evading, DUI, assault on a peace officer, possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
