Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office locates at-risk missing person

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CALIF. (KION-TV) - UPDATE JUNE 21, 2024 4:45 P.M. - According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office, Lukas McClish has been found and is being reunited with family.

CAL FIRE CZU said McClish was rescued from Big Basin State Park Thursday night. There were multiple reports of witnesses hearing someone yelling for help, but the location he was in was difficult to determine. A drone from the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office helped locate McClish in the forest between Empire Grade and Big Basin Highway near Foreman Creek.

McClish was reported missing 5 days ago by family.

CAL FIRE CZU said the Boulder Creek Fire Department, State Parks, and the CA Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation also assisted in the rescue.

According to officials, 34-year-old Lukas McClish was last seen on foot on Saint Francis Drive in Boulder Creek on the morning of June 11th. He lives on the 13000 Block of West Park Drive in Boulder Creek. According to the sheriff's office, McClish was last known to be wearing all black clothing, approximately 6 feet tall and weighs 190 pounds with blue eyes and blonde hair.

The Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team is currently looking for him at this time. If you have any information on his whereabouts, have any relevant information or have seen him after the morning of June 11th, you can reach out to the Santa Cruz Couny Sheriff’s Office dispatch.
