Two cars suffer major damage in fire in Watsonville

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION-TV)- The Watsonville Fire Department had to extinguish two cars that caught on fire on Wednesday afternoon.

A Watsonville Fire Dept. battalion chief confirmed to KION that a car became fully engulfed in the parking lot of The Home Depot on the 300 block of South Green Valley Road just after noon.

Firefighters said that both parties in both cars were shopping and when the fire took place.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation but the battalion chief said that the fire is not suspicious at this time.

Firefighters said the vehicle owner told them that an electrical issue contributed to the fire.
