Suspect arrested after intentionally running over a pet rooster, police say

SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV)- The Hollister Police Animal Care and Services arrested a 61-year-old woman who intentionally ran over their pet rooster.

According to officers, they received multiple reports of a woman who reportedly kicking chickens and causing injury to one.

On May 23, multiple Animal Care and Services officers along with the San Benito County Sheriff's Office served an arrest warrant at a home on the 2000 block of San Juan Canyon Road in unincorporated San Benito County.

While serving the arrest warrant, Animal Control Officers noted a strong odor of feces emanating from the residence which prompted them to obtain a search warrant for the property. 

After obtaining the search warrant, Animal Control Officers discovered two cats living in unsanitary conditions and without proper provisions.

Both cats were seized from the home and are currently in the care of the Hollister Animal Shelter and have received medical treatment per San Benito County Sheriff's Office.

Police arrested and booked 61-year-old Dina Iden into the San Benito County Jail on felony animal abuse charges.
