29-year-old man arrested on attempted rape charges in Salinas, police say
SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV)- Salinas Police said they arrested a 29-year-old man after he tried to rape a 24-year-old woman on Tuesday.
In a press release, officers said that they received a call from a citizen who heard a woman yelling for help in the 900 block of North Madeira Drive.
Investigators were able to locate a 24-year-old woman. Officers determined that the woman was a victim of attempted rape.
Police said the act was captured on video from a surveillance camera in the area. Officers continued with the investigation and were able to arrest the suspect in the area of Glenwood Court and Alma Avenue.
Salinas Police identified the suspect as 29-year-old Alejandro Gabino Lopez. Lopez was booked into the Monterey County Jail on multiple charges including rape, assault to commit rape, assault kidnapping, false imprisonment and assault with a deadly weapon not a firearm.
Lopez's bail has been set at $340,000 per the Monterey County Sheriff's Office.
