Over 19,000 illegal marijuana plants found in San Benito County
SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The San Benito County Sheriff's Office found an illegal marijuana farm with more than 19,000 plants in early May.
Investigators say it's one of the biggest marijuana busts in the county. It all started when the fire department inspected a structure the property owners were building.
Requested to see where the water source was coming from. And then the fire department located three large, water towers. And then that's where the plants were located near there," said Commander Silvestre Yerena with the San Benito County Sheriff's Office.
No arrests were made on the recent bust.
"We can, you know, see if we can file charges against them. But as of right now, we were doing our follow-up investigation regarding if they knew it was there," said Yerena.
