38-year-old East Palo Alto man dead in single vehicle crash, officers say three kids suffered minor injuries
SAN JOSE, Calif. (KION-TV)- The California Highway Patrol said that a 38-year-old East Palo Alto man has died in a single vehicle crash on Wednesday evening.
A public information officer with CHP Hollister-Gilroy told KION the crash happened on Northbound Highway 85 just south of Cottle Road.
Officers said a 38-year-old man was driving a 2002 Toyota Sequoia on Northbound Highway 85 exceeding 65 miles per hour.
Investigators said that the man's vehicle veered from the left hand lane and the front of the Sequoia crashed into a metal guardrail vehicle proceeded northward, eventually coming to a stop within the left hand lane of Highway 85.
The California Highway Patrol said that the man died at the scene. Officers said that there were three kids who were passengers in the car who were 4, 8 and 2 years old suffered minor injures and were taken to a local hospital.
Investigators said it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. Officers said the man was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
