Carmel-by-the-Sea burger restaurant sustains significant damage from structure fire, firefighters say
CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA, Calif. (KION-TV)- The Monterey Fire Department said a Carmel-by-the-Sea restaurant suffered $175,000 after a structure fire happened at the restaurant on Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters said that the fire happened around 2:20 p.m. at the Carmel Burger Bar at the Carmel Plaza shopping center.
Monterey Fire said in a press release that while the restaurant was open, there was report of smoke coming from inside the building.
Firefighters were able to tackle the fire which was originating from the kitchen behind a stove in the wall and craw space. All patrons were able to evacuate safely from the restaurant.
Crews were able to contain the fire in the kitchen. Monterey Fire said there were no firefighters or civilian injuries.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation but it is not considered suspicious, per Monterey Fire.
