7.4 earthquake strikes off the coast of Taiwan, National Weather Service says no Tsunami Threat to the West Coast

CENTRAL COAST, Calif. (KION-TV)- A 7.4 earthquake struck off of Taiwan's eastern coast according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake has prompted tsunami warnings in southern Japan. The quake's epicenter is located about 11 miles south of Hualien.

The National Weather Service Bay Area said a tsunami is not expected from the earthquake.

The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services said that they are monitoring the potential impacts to coastal regions.

There is no word if there are any injures in Taiwan.
