Two Monterey County Sheriff’s Office deputies injured during arrest of a Royal Oaks man
PAJARO, Calif. (KION-TV)- The Monterey County Sheriff's Office said two deputies were injured during an arrest of a Royal Oaks man early Sunday morning.
The Sheriff's Office said that were dispatched to the 10 block of Porter Drive in Pajaro for a report of a man who was trying to get into a business around 12:45 a.m.
When deputies arrived to the scene, a security guard at a local bar told them that he had been kicked by a man that was being disruptive. Deputies said the man had left before they got to the scene.
A Monterey County Sheriff's Office Commander told KION that a male matching the description of the suspect entered the business and began walking towards deputies.
Investigators identified the suspect as 37-year-old Alfredo Gonzalez. Deputies said that Gonzalez was not complying with them as they attempted to detain him.
Deputies tried to control Gonzalez but a struggle ensured.
Gonzalez continued to resist the deputies until additional officers from the Watsonville Police Department arrived to assist in taking Gonzalez into custody.
Two Monterey County Sheriff's Deputies sustained significant injuries which required medical attention. The Sheriff's Office said that both deputies were released from a local hospital and are recovering.
Gonzales was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail on multiple charges which include battery on a peace officer, battery with serious bodily injury, criminal threats, obstruct or resisting an executive officer, battery and obstruct or resist an executive officer.
