One person dead after a vehicle hit a pedestrian on Highway 1

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CALIF. (KION-TV)- One person is dead after a vehicle collided with one person on Highway 1 near Main Street outside of Watsonville.

According to CHP Santa Cruz officials, a 20-year-old man from Sonora walked onto the highway at around 12:05 Friday morning. The man walked onto the northbound lanes wearing all black clothing, when a 54-year-old man from Watsonville ran into him in the number two lane.

The collision is still under investigation, but officials say at this moment in time, it's believed the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
