Public comment has now open for Carmel River Lagoon Project

CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA, Calif. (KION-TV)- Community members have the ability to weigh in on plans for the Carmel River lagoon project.

The County of Monterey Public Works Department says the project has been in the works for a number of years.

A previous draft of the Environmental Impact Report was released in 2017. The project aims to protect low-lying homes near the Carmel Lagoon.

The project is suppose to prevent erosion along scenic road and create a seawall to protect the River Beach Parking Lot and restaurants from flooding.

Public comment and review period is open until March 20, 2024. The report is available online or you can get hardcopies at one of these three locations.
