15-year-old boy and two other suspects arrested after leading police on a chase in Soledad, police say

SOLEDAD, Calif. (KION-TV)- Salinas Police said that three suspect who led them on a chase that ended in front of Soledad High School have been arrested on multiple weapons and drugs charges.

Officers said the incident started around 10 a.m. on Sunday morning when they noticed a stolen Honda Accord driving on North Sanborn Road.

The officer did try to pull the vehicle over but it was unsuccessful and the driver of the Honda Accord led them on a chase on Highway 101, per police.

Investigators said the Honda Accord topped out at speeds up to 80 MPH. Salinas Police called out for mutual aid as the car was heading towards South Monterey County.

The Honda Accord exited on Southbound Highway 101 at Front Street and that is when Soledad Police put down spike strips which were successful.

The Honda Accord kept driving into the city of Soledad and Salinas Police used the pit maneuver on the Honda Accord.

The driver of the Accord lost control of the vehicle which proceeded to hit a gate pole in front of Soledad High School.

Police said that a 15-year-old boy was driving the Honda Accord and two other men were passengers in the car. Police identified the two other men as 29-year-old Cesar Gomar of Salinas and 21-year-old Alejandro Jimenez of Salinas.

Investigators were able to recover an unregistered gun and a ghost gun from the vehicle as well as narcotics.

Salinas Police said the 15-year-old boy will be facing stolen vehicle charges as well as drug and weapons charges. He was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Juvenile Hall.

Gomar and Jimenez will also be facing drug and weapons charges and will be booked into the Monterey County Jail.

Salinas Police said all three suspects have suspected local gang ties.
