National Weather Service

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif- (KION-TV)- The County Of Monterey and Monterey County Sheriff's Office is asking visitors and community members to stay away from beaches as rain and heavy wind is expected to hit late Saturday night.

According to the National Weather Service, beaches along the Monterey Bay could see large breaking waves of 25 to 35 feet between Saturday night and into Monday morning.

The National Weather Service says that unexpected waves may sweep people into the sea from rocks, jetties and beaches.

County officials said that there is an increased risk for large breaking waves.
