Two Salinas girls arrested after allegedly beating up their counselor with a fire extinguisher, police say
SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV)- Salinas Police confirmed with KION that they have arrested a 17-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl after they allegedly beat their group home counselor with a fire extinguisher and a iron skillet early Monday morning.
Officers said the incident took place around 12:30 a.m. at the Santa Lucia Group Home on the 1900 block of Oxford Court.
Police said they were called out to the home for a reported battery at the group home.
When officers got to the scene, they located one of the counselors who was suffering from large head lacerations.
Investigators learned that the incident stemmed from an argument that the two girls had with their counselor.
Officers said that the counselor was allegedly beaten with a fire extinguisher and a iron skillet. Police said that both girls lived at the home.
Police were able to locate both girls a few hours later. Investigators said that the girls were arrested and booked into the Monterey County Juvenile Hall on attempted murder charges.
Salinas Police said that the incident was not familiar and the suspects are not related to each other.
The female counselor was transported to a local hospital and is currently in the ICU where she is expected to survive.
