Alisal High School Student and Teacher win New York Times Competition
SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV)- An Alisal High School student and teacher received from special recognition from the New York Times.
Student Danna Ramirez and Teacher Veronica Dorantes-Pulido were named winners of the Learning Network's Multimedia Challenge titled "What High School is Like in 2023."
Ramirez won with her photo montage called "A Capture of Moments," which included illustrations of a photo montage of images with illustrations depicting life as a high school student.
Pulido was recognized for her piece which is called "No Space For Commas." The Salinas Union School District said her piece was focused on a typical day in her life as a high school English teacher.
".Drive to school with caffeine. Bathroom break before school. Good morning! Is it good? Conduct class. I hope they learned something. Did I teach it the right way? Students laugh; sense of relief. Please put away your phones. Will this be my death chamber? Where is the nearest exit?" Dorantes-Pulido wrote in her piece.
