Brent Brennan hired as Arizona head coach, multiple sources confirm

TUSCON, Ariz. (KION-TV)- After seven seasons in San Jose, Brent Brennan will be returning to a familiar place in the dessert.

The San Jose State head football coach has been hired by the Arizona Wildcats to become their head coach according to Pete Thamel of ESPN.

Jedd Fisch left Tucson to become the head coach of the Washington Huskies on Monday.

The 50-year-old Redwood City native went 34-48 in seven seasons at SJSU. He led the Spartans to three bowl game appearances in the last four seasons including a Mountain West Championship in 2020.

Brennan is the first coach in program history to lead the Spartans to three bowl games. He did sign a contract extension in 2022.

The Wildcats went 10-3 and made the Alamo Bowl where they defeated Oklahoma. Arizona will be heading to the Big 12 Conference in 2024.
