APTOS, Calif. (KION-TV)- The California Highway Patrol had a unique crash that they responded to on Monday afternoon.

CHP Santa Cruz said that an excavator crashed into a pedestrian bridge along Soquel Drive and Cabrillo College Drive.

Officers said that the excavator created a dent on the bridge. Officers said the road will be closed until further notice.

Drivers can use Perimeter Road and northbound Highway 1 as an alternate route until further notice.
