New details released on Monterey Macy’s Robbery that led to the final suspect arrested
SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV)- UPDATE ON NOV. 9 AT 9:36 AM- The last person that was still at large from the Macy's robbery in Monterey has been arrested.
According to Monterey Police, detectives worked with other agencies to identify and locate the suspect. With the help of the Monterey County Probation Department, detectives were able to identify the last suspect as 20 year old Celso Suarez-Lopez of Greenfield.
On Tuesday November 7th, Greenfield Police located and arrested Suarez-Lopez in Greenfield. Monterey Police were notified and took custody of Suarez-Lopez.
Suarez-Lopez was booked into the Monterey County Jail on several charges including robbery, conspiracy, and felon in possession of a firearm.
UPDATE ON NOV. 6, 2023 AT 1:03 PM- On Monday afternoon, Monterey Police released new details on three suspects that were arrested in a car chase that ended near Hartnell College on Friday night.
Monterey Police said around 4:28 p.m. on Friday, officers were dispatched to the Del Monte Shopping Center for a robbery that occurred at the Macy's Department Store at the Shopping Center.
Officers said that A loss prevention officer who worked at Macy's said that multiple suspects pointed a handgun at him as he tried to intervene. The four suspects who were involved stole merchandise which was worth $1,500. The suspects drove off in a maroon Honda Accord.
Detectives arrived in the area and located the suspect vehicle on Munras Avenue.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver did not yield which started a 22-minute pursuit.
The pursuit went through downtown Monterey and onto Northbound Highway 1 through the East
Garrison area then onto West Blanco Road and into the City of Salinas.
Multiple law enforcement agencies caught up to the suspect vehicle in the area of Buena Vista Street and Park Street in Salinas when four suspects got out of the car and started running.
Monterey Police said that they arrested three Salinas men after officers pursued them on foot.
The three suspects that were arrested include the following.
21-year-old David Rangel of Salinas who was booked into the Monterey County Jail on multiple charges including robbery, conspiracy, possession of an unsterilized firearm and possession of a controlled substance. Monterey PD said that Rangel's bail has been set at $92,500.
20-year-old Byrin Guzman of Salinas who police identified as the driver of the Honda Accord. He was booked into the Monterey County Jail on multiple charges including evading a police officer, driving on the wrong side of the road while evading a police officer and conspiracy charges. Guzman's bail was set at $30,000.
21-year-old Antonio Sotelo of Salinas was also booked into the Monterey County Jail on obstructing a police officer. Officers said Sotelo was released from Monterey County Jail on a citation. Monterey Police said that Sotelo was released because there was no video proof of him stealing any items from Macy's.
Monterey Police is still searching for a fourth suspect who was involved in the incident. The suspect is a Hispanic male in his early 20's who was last seen wearing a black hoodie and dark pants.

Chase started after suspects pulled out gun at Del Monte Shopping Center, three of four suspects arrested
Monterey Police said they have arrested three of four suspects believed to have been involved in a chase that started in Monterey and ended near Hartnell College in Salinas on Friday evening.
Officers from California Highway Patrol, Salinas Police and Monterey Police were investigating the incident near Hartnell College. Police activity was concentrated near the intersection of Park Street and Villa Street.
Monterey Police said the chase started after suspects pulled a gun out at the Macy's at the Del Monte Shopping Center in Monterey. Police say the suspects were driving the maroon vehicle shown in the photo below.
Monterey Police say they have arrested three suspects but are still on the search for one suspect.
A witness told our reporters on the scene that three suspects were seen running from the area. The witness said he saw police tackle one of the suspects and they saw one of the suspects throw a gun in the trash can.
