15 job seekers were hired as a result of Pajaro Job Fair

PAJARO, Calif. (KION-TV)- UPDATE ON JUNE 14, 2023 AT 3:12 PM- During the Monterey County news briefing that was held on Wednesday, County officals announced that 15 job seekers were hired as a result of the Pajaro Job Fair that was held on June 7.

Laura Kershner who is the employment programs representative for the Monterey County Workforce Development Board said that 32 employers throughout the county participated in the job fair.

She also said that employers collected 80 resumes during the fair and over 100 job seekers attended the fair.

Employers who participated in the job fair scheduled 26 interviews with job seekers who attended.

County officials are also planning to hold a Pajaro housing fair at the Our Lady of Assumption Church in Pajaro and are working to finalize a date within the next couple of weeks.

Pajaro Job Fair to take place on Wednesday

The Monterey County and Santa Cruz County Workforce Development Boards will be hosting a Job Fair for flood victims in Pajaro on Wednesday afternoon.

The job fair will be taking place at the Our Lady of the Assumption Church on 100 Salinas Road. The fair will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Nearly 20 employers from Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties will be there which include Ocean Mist Farms, Taylor Farms, CHP, U.S. Army and North Monterey County Unified School District.

“We’re happy to be able to offer this event to affected residents,” Monterey County Workforce Development Board, Executive Director, Christopher Donnelly said. “We want to encourage residents who are looking for jobs to attend,” Donnelly said.

Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties to host a job fair for flood victims in Pajaro

The Monterey County and Santa Cruz County Workforce Development Boards will be teaming up to host a job fair in Pajaro on June 7.

The fair will be held at the Our Lady of the Assumption Church on 100 Salinas Road from 1 to 4 p.m.

During the Monterey County news briefing on Tuesday afternoon, Laura Kershner who works for the Monterey County Workforce Development Board said they are trying to get 20 employers to show up at the job fair.

Kershner said they are lining up employers that are willing to hire immediately. They hope flood victims, job-seekers and employers will come out to get people back on their feet.

County leaders want to make sure flood victims who had homes and businesses devastated from the floods in March benefit from this job fair.
