CHP: Man dies in crash on West Zayante Road, Quail Hollow Road back open
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) UPDATE April 7, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.-- CHP said a man has died in a crash on 8335 West Zayante Road.
A 78-year-old Ben Lomand man was going east on Quail Hollow Road at an unknown speed in a silver Kia Soul, according to CHP.
For an unknown reason, the man veered off the road and down an embankment.
The vehicle hit a guy wire and continued down the embankment and down into Zayante Creek.
No other people were in the car.
Gas from the vehicle went into the creek and hazmat crews were called out.
Quail Hollow Road is now open, according to law officials.

At least one person has died after a crash along West Zayante Road in the Santa Cruz mountains.
CHP Santa Cruz said the crash happened around 11 a.m. near 8335 West Zayante Road between Zayante and Felton.
No other information on the crash, itself, has been provided as crews are still working the clear the scene.
The CHP said all of Quail Hollow Road is closed from West to East Zayante. A closure is also in place at the intersection of West Zayante and Quail Hollow Road.
