Salinas Airshow kicks off this weekend
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) The 40th annual California International Airshow Salinas returns this weekend, October 30th and 31st.
This is the first time the Salinas airshow will host the U.S. Airforce F-35A Lightning II piloted by Commander Major Kristen Wolfe.
“This is our 40th year and it's just tremendously satisfying and great to be back out and having the community here," said Nick Pasculli, Director of Marketing for Salinas Airshow.
Last year, the pandemic put a halt to most events including the airshow, but one pair trucked all the way from Newman, California to witness the event.
"I expected to be wowed and i have been beyond wowed like tears in my eyes. it’s incredible…. the feeling that i had deep down that i had deep down as it passed us, that’ my favorite part so far," said a tourist.
She’s talking about the Air Force F-35 Lightning II, one of the newest fighters from the Air Force flown by the first new first female commander, Major Kirstin Wolfe. There were also classic cars and monster trucks.
Pasculli also mentions that event benefits the local community.
"The biggest part about the airshow is everything that we raise and above and beyond. Our expenses goes back to the community, goes back to charity," said Pasculli.
The airshow will be continuing on October 31st.
