City of Seaside fines 10 people for $2,500 for fireworks
SEASIDE, Calif. (KION- TV) -- The City of Seaside issued 10 citations for people who violated a city ordinance that set times and banned illegal fireworks.
Those citations of $2,500 could potentially bring in $25,000.
Lesley Milton with the City of Seaside says violators have a 10-day period to appeal. Milton stressed that the city was not "doing this as a revenue source" but rather hoping it serves as a deterrent.
Once that is finalized, the city will determine if there are any residents who earned a $50 reward for reporting the illegal use.
Residents who reported illegal use of fireworks will only receive that reward upon a successful citation issued.
