MST will require face coverings to board buses

KION

Monterey-Salinas Transit officials say riders will now be required to wear face coverings in buses to prevent further spread of COVID-19.

MST CEO and General Manager, Carl Sedoryk has instituted a policy that will require all MST passengers over the age of 12 to wear a face mask to board an MST bus including MST RIDES buses.

The new requirement will become effective at midnight Wednesday, April 29, 2020.

MST says they will continue to provide personal protective equipment to its employees including latex disposable gloves, disinfectant wipes, hand sanitizer and face masks. MST also continues to disinfect its fleet each night with a hospital grade germicide, and has added mid-day cleanings as resources are available.

“Safety is always our number one priority and while this change has not yet been ordered by the Monterey County Health Officer, it is consistent with what we are seeing occur at transit systems throughout the state and entire nation”, said Sedoryk.
