Power back on after thousands impacted on peninsula

UPDATE: Customers have had their power restored.

According to PG&E officials, crews responded to the scene and safely restored all customers at 3:26 p.m.. While the cause of the outage is under investigation, it appears equipment failure likely played a role.

Around 4,000 customers are without power this afternoon, according to PG & E.

The outage is impacting those in Monterey, Seaside, Del Rey Oaks and Carmel.

No word yet on what caused the outage.
