Santa Cruz Harbor sees at least $20 million in damages following large surf conditions Monday
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The Santa Cruz Harbor Patrol confirmed to KION that they expect to see upwards of $20 million worth of damage from the very intense surf that rolled through the harbor Monday, knocking boats together and causing a lot of damage.
"Right now, the Santa Cruz Harbor is focusing efforts on revering marine debris and submerged hazards within the harbor," said Santa Cruz Harbor Patrol Port Director Holland MacLaurie.
She said that, while they're still assessing and discovering the damage throughout the harbor, engineering estimates are expecting to discover more damage, especially in North Harbor.
"We're also anticipating needing to replace several docks and piling infrastructure," said MacLaurie.
