Cabrillo ranked best community college in California
APTOS, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Cabrillo College announced Wednesday that they've been named the best community college in California.
According to a study released by SmartAsset published in the Miami Herald this week, Cabrillo is ranked first for its retention rates, student-to-faculty ratios as well as cost of tuition and fees.
"Ranked first in California with a full-time student retention rate of 74% and a student-to-faculty ratio of 16 :1, Cabrillo College is also highly affordable, with full-time, in-state tuition and fees costing $1,262," according to Cabrillo College.
In the same study nationwide, Cabrillo was ranked the 37th overall community college.
According to Cabrillo, SmartAsset compared over 600 community college. They also said that in order to determine the best community college in the United States, SmartAsset choose two-year college that offer associate degrees with at least 500 full-time students.
“This ranking provides a tangible reference for what I’ve heard anecdotally since arriving at Cabrillo seven years ago, that Cabrillo is the best community college in the state,” said Matt Wetstein, Superintendent and President at Cabrillo College.
The study was conducted in the 2022-2023 academic school year.
