Watsonville Planning Commission denies appeal of the ‘Tiny Village’ project

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The City of Watsonville Planning Commission met Tuesday and reviewed an appeal for the city's low-barrier navigation center, known as the "Tiny Village" project.

After denying the appeal, the plan to help house people currently living along the Pajaro River is moving forward in Watsonville.

Two members were not present during the meeting, but the commission voted against the appeal, saying that the city zoning staff did not make any errors when approving the initial project and that staff had complied with state laws and regulations.

Watsonville's Tiny Village project will relocate about 70 people currently living in encampments by offering a 34-bed, low-barrier navigation center at 118 First Street.
