Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office lifts evacuation orders, urges caution over high surf
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV)-- The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office announced evacuation orders were lifted for certain areas Tuesday morning.
This applies to the Rio Del Mar, Beach Drive, and Las Olas areas and residents are allowed to return to zone CTL-E048, according to the sheriff's office.
The Capitola Police Department also announced that Capitola Village reopened to both vehicle and foot traffic Tuesday morning; the Capitola Wharf will remain closed until a thorough assessment can be made, according to the department.
While the evacuations have been lifted, the sheriff's office and police department said hazardous conditions are still expected along the coast with debris and high surf. Residents and visitors are asked to avoid beaches and low-lying coastal areas until the high surf warning has ended.
The sheriff's office said Public Works crews are clearing roads of debris and sand, so drivers are asked to be cautious in those areas, adding road closures can be monitored here.

Capitola Police said the water-facing units will need to leave immediately.
Police add Village residents in the 100 blocks of Esplanade and Monterey should shelter in place or voluntarily leave the area.
