CHP Santa Cruz releases Maximum Enforcement Period numbers post New Year’s 2025

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Santa Cruz CHP released the Maximum Enforcement Period (MEP) numbers during the New Year's holiday Thursday.

They said that from December 31 through January 1 there were zero fatal crashes, 142 citations issued (86 for speeding), 61 verbal warnings given and 11 DUI arrests made.

During this time, CHP said that they performed a "speed enforcement detail" on Highway 1, which led to 35 citations and one DUI arrest.
