Holiday Lights returns to the Santa Cruz Fairgrounds Friday

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds is kicking off their 5th annual Holiday Lights event Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds in Watsonville.

"It features light displays including a 30-foot sea serpent, huge rooster, lighted tractors with turning wheels, gingerbread kids, tunnels, an enchanted forest, gigantic snowflakes and much more!" They wrote in the announcement.

The fairgrounds promises a "bigger and brighter" event this year with lighted candy canes and large poinsettias filling the grass area at the main entrance. They also said that the snowman greeter will be there again this year to welcome patrons to the event.

Another new feature that the fairgrounds announced this year, is a display inspired by this year's Youth Art in Lights Contest winner of a hot chocolate mug and candy canes.

Attendees can also expect to see almost half a million LED light bulbs.

The event has both a drive thru experience set to music by KAPU 104.7 FM and KDUB 99.9 FM, as well as a walk thru experience.

The drive thru is available every Friday, Saturday and Sunday between November 29 and December 22 with additional dates on December 23 and 24, while the walk thru will take place on December 6 and 7.

Presale tickets are available online at fairgrounds-foundation.org for $20/car ($25 at the gate).
