Santa Cruz man missing for months found dead in Santa Cruz hills, death ruled homicide
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION)
UPDATE 4/29/2020 5 p.m. Santa Cruz police said a man whose body was found in the Santa Cruz hills died as a result of a homicide.
The man, 36-year-old Douglass Murdock, had been listed as a missing person since Dec. 2019.
Murdock's body was found in a wooded area off Glen Canyon Road Sunday, and because the circumstances were considered suspicious, an autopsy was done. Although the cause of death was not determined, police said initial findings show that he had been stabbed.
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office initially investigated the case, but now Santa Cruz police are working on the case.

PREVIOUS STORY: A body was found near Redwood Drive off of Glen Canyon Road in the Soquel hills area, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office.
A Sergeant with the Sheriff's Office said someone came across the body Saturday when they were checking the property line.
The Sheriff's Office said there is an ongoing criminal investigation.
They could not release any other details to us at this time.
