Salinas police seize a large amount of drug and weapon paraphernalia Saturday

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Salinas police announced Saturday that the Violence Suppression Task Force (VSTF) made a large drug and weapon bust on the 100 block of N. Madeira Avenue.

In a Facebook post, they said that suspect Arturo Amesquita was served a search warrant before police found 19.2 Lbs. of marijuana, a .45 XD handgun, 9mm Glock handgun, 9mm drum magazine, 9mm extended magazine and $23,161.00 in asset forfeiture and indicia for marijuana sales.

"Yes, we know 'but weed is legal?!?' Not when you are a gang member, convicted felon with firearms, and selling it without proper permitting (whether you like it or not you still have to be permitted to sell it)," Salinas police wrote on social media.
