Make sure to look up Tuesday afternoon if you’re in Salinas
SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) -- If you find yourself outdoors in Salinas on Tuesday, make sure that you keep your eyes toward the skies.
Frecce Tricolori (the Italian Air Force Precision Demonstration Team) will be stopping in Monterey to refuel on their way to Sacramento for an airshow.
Although they will not be showcasing colorful smoke streams or fancy barrel rolls, they will be passing over Salinas around 3 p.m., according to the California International Airshow Salinas.
The Salinas Airshow announced the impromptu visit of Frecce Tricolori on Monday, stating that the group will be in the area starting at noon for lunch, a media event and then to meet with Monterey Airport regarding potential future partnerships.
"Frecce Tricolori commander Lt. Col. Massimiliano Salvatore said this is the first time in 32 years that the team has toured North America," announced the Salinas Airshow. "Salinas was not in the plans, but Salinas Airshow past president, Karen Curtis, was able to secure this impromptu opportunity to host the team for lunch."
The 11 MB-339 aircraft will be covering over 14,000 miles between nine events and 17 flyovers during the tour.
