New equity metric system could help Monterey County reopen more businesses
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) A new state equity metric system for COVID-19 could help Monterey County reopen more areas of the economy, if the county brings down its case positivity rate.
Some areas of Monterey County have been hit particularly hard by COVID-19, including Salinas and some areas of south Monterey County, which could hold back reopening efforts for the county. But now, the county will have more opportunities to meet certain criteria to get the economy going again.
KION's Elisha Machado will have a live report on KION News at 5 and 6 with more on the new system and how business owners have been impacted by the old system during the pandemic.
