One person injured in shooting near Toro Ave in Salinas
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) UPDATED 11:10 a.m. 3/9/20: Salinas Police say a 25-year-old male was shot in the neck area following a shooting at Market Street at Williams Road on Sunday.
Officials say the investigation showed the victim was sitting in his vehicle waiting for a friend in the 200 block of Toro Ave. when he was approached by the suspect who tried to open the driver's side vehicle door. The victim drove away, and the suspect pulled out a gun and fired several rounds at the victim's vehicle.
The victim was struck once. He was able to drive to the area of Williams Rd and Market Ave. where 911 was called and officers responded. The victim was transported to the hospital and is listed in critical condition. Suspect is described as a Hispanic male adult wearing black jacket, black hat with a thin build.

UPDATED 8:39 p.m. 3/8/20 Salinas Police confirm one person was injured in a shooting near the 200 block of Toro Ave in Salinas.
Police say the victim is a man in his 20s and was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound.
Commander Brian Johnson told KION the victim was sitting in his vehicle when the suspect walked up and the two exchanged words. The victim started to drive away and then the suspect fired several rounds at the vehicle.
The victim continued to drive to E Market Street and Williams Road where police said he flagged down some people for help.
Police are still trying to gather information about the incident. They canvassed the area Sunday to see if any witnesses would give statements.
The suspect has not been identified at this time.
The investigation is ongoing.
