LAS LOMAS, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The Monterey County Sheriff's office said Thursday that there have been multiple mountain lion sightings in the community of Las Lomas.

The sightings were made near the 100 block of Las Lomas Drive by employees of a local water company on May 27 and June 4.

Out of concern for the safety of community members, the Sheriff's Office says locals should avoid walking alone at dawn, dusk, or nighttime.

They also advise to keep pets and children close when outdoors, and to report any additional sightings to law enforcement or fish and wildlife.
