Rare Orca spotting on the coast of Moss Landing

MOSS LANDING, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Captain Giancarlo Thomae of Sanctuary Cruises in Moss Landing sent in video of a very rare killer whale encounter.

He said that they saw over 80 killer whales in the Monterey Bay.

He also said that they are the Offshore Killer Whale Ecotype and usually only seen every five years.

Captain Thomae told KION that this is currently nearing the end of Orca season, but he believes they will be continuing to visit the area for a while.
