Small wildfire breaks out Wednesday afternoon on the first day of permitted burn season

PINNACLES, Calif. (KION-TV) -- CAL FIRE BEU confirmed to KION that a small, 20-by-20 spot fire broke out on the hiking trail Bear Gulch in Pinnacles Wednesday afternoon.

They said that they are still investigating the cause of the fire, but it was reported by park staff as a vegetation fire.

This fire comes as today is the first day of permitted burns, according to CAL FIRE BEU.

Forward progress has stopped.
