Monterey County Sheriff Tina Nieto selects new Corrections Operations Bureau Chief Deputy Sheriff

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Monterey County Sheriff Tina Nieto announced Thursday that she's is placing Timothy Lanquist as the next Corrections Operations Bureau Chief Deputy Sheriff after a nationwide search to fill the role.

Sheriff Nieto has not yet announced a start date, which will depend on the hiring process.

Chief Deputy Timothy Lanquist has over 29 years of experience in public service, with six years serving with the United States Navy, according to the sheriff's office.

During this time, they say that Lanquist also served in a variety of management and leadership roles: Naval Academy Sports Information Officer, Recruit Training Division Officer, Manpower Officer and Assistant Director of Military Training at the Navy’s only boot camp in Great Lakes, IL.

He has also served in a number of high ranking law enforcement roles at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

“We are fortunate that Tim has decided to join the MCSO family," said Sheriff Tina Nieto. "I ask everyone to help us in welcoming Tim to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, the county family and to all our local communities.”
