Highway 101 tree removal starts Sunday

PRUNEDALE, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Cal Trans announced its tree removal project is scheduled to start next week to keep a stretch of Highway 101 north of Prunedale safer.

The project will take place near Rocks Road, a location that Cal Trans claims has seen multiple collisions due to falling Eucalyptus trees.

Starting this weekend for the next three weeks--or through November 3--one southbound lane near the 101 junction with Highway 156 will be closed Sundays from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m.

Monday through Thursday road closures will take place between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., when Cal Trans says that drivers can expect up to 30 minutes delay time.

Cal Trans will provide a completion date as they progress through the closures.
