ITN Monterey County celebrates 100,000 rides Thursday afternoon

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- ITN Monterey County is celebrating their 100,000th ride on Thursday at 5 p.m. with a ribbon cutting and ceremony at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

The organization is planning on celebrating Thursday with food, drinks, go carts as well as a presentation, raffle and auction.

The mission of ITN Monterey County is "to provide a community-based, and community supported, economically viable and consumer-oriented, quality transportation service for seniors and visually impaired adults."

ITN Monterey County offers transportation to seniors and people with visual impairments in the Monterey County area--Carmel-by-the-Sea, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, Seaside, Salinas, Castroville, Toro Park, Carmel Valley and Marina.

ITN Monterey County drivers are volunteer-based and the organization says that they provide 800 rides per month.

The service is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week on a membership basis.
