Structure fire on Bryant Canyon in South Monterey County now fully contained

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Cal Fire BEU confirmed a structure fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon in Bryant Canyon, South Monterey County.

Cal Fire said that a structure fire was called in and when crews arrived on scene, they saw the building with a vehicle nearby fully engulfed. The fire then spread to nearby vegetation and is currently occupying a 20X20 spot of land, they said.

The original fire was reported at 1,500 square feet, said Cal Fire. They also said they are working to prevent a threat to wildland and that the fire is contained to the structure.

In an update from Cal Fire, crews said that the fire is now contained and resources are being released. Engines will remain on scene to salvage and overhaul, and Cal Fire said that the cause is still under investigation.
