UPDATE 10:19 a.m. July 29, 2022- Marina Police provide the full details on what led to the arrest of a man after a six-hour standoff on the 450 block of Reindollar in Marina.
Police said that Tony Hernandez, 35, was at the residence he had previously restrained from being near. Officers arrived, and Hernandez was outside the home and began swinging a bat at them while threatening to kill the officers, said police.
Police tried de-escalating the situation by ordering him to comply. Hernandez refused and ran inside the residence and continued threatening officers by telling them he'd kill them if they entered, said police.
Hernadez allegedly broke windows and threw things at officers. Marina Police tried convincing Hernandez to leave the home for almost an hour.
Monterey Peninsula Regional Response Unit and Monterey County Behavior Health arrived to help talk Hernandez down. After six hours, SRU was able to take Hernandez into custody safely.
