Major injury crash in Carmel Valley turns deadly
CARMEL VALLEY, Calif. (KION) UPDATED 6/20/20 5:34 p.m. The CHP has now upgraded the Carmel Valley crash involving two motorcyclists and a SUV to a fatal crash.
The SUV collided with two different motorcycles near the intersection of Camp Steffani Road and State Route 16 at 10:48 a.m.
The SUV's 89-year-old driver is not thought to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.

UPDATED 6/20/20 3:42 p.m. The CHP is now saying the Carmel Valley motorcycle accident is a major injury crash, after initially reporting it as a fatal. The CHP says one person is undergoing emergency surgery and the other rider is in critical condition at the hospital.

One motorcyclist is dead and another is in critical condition after colliding with an SUV Saturday.
The SUV collided with two different motorcycles near the intersection of Camp Steffani Road and State Route 16 at 10:48 a.m.
The driver of the first motorcycle was a 54-year-old Fremont resident who did not survive. The driver of the second motorcycle remains in critical condition and is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital, according to CHP Public Information Officer Jessica Madueño.
The SUV's 89-year-old driver is not thought to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.
