Anthem Blue Cross to conclude its HMO relationship with Aspire Health, March 1
CENTRAL COAST, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Many Monterey County residents will be impacted by the upcoming healthcare change as Anthem Blue Cross ends its contract with Aspire Health.
Tyler Munson, CEO of Aspire Health states, “After careful evaluation, Anthem Blue Cross has decided to discontinue this specific community partnership, and both organizations have agreed to end their agreement, effective March 1, 2025.”
Munson adds that approximately 2,500 members are enrolled in that particular HMO plan.
“Aspire Health remains committed to the well-being of Monterey County residents and continues to administer and support both Medicare Advantage and Commercial plans in Monterey County, ensuring continued access to high-quality care for the community locally.”
A member of the Anthem Blue Cross team stated that this change will impact about one percent of recipients of healthcare; potentially moving them to find a different primary care provider. “All impacted members have been notified in advance, ensuring a smooth transition to alternate participating medical groups.”
They add, “When possible, members are reassigned to alternate medical groups with which their PCPs are affiliated. Members who are not matched to their current PCP through another medical group are assigned to a new PCP or participating medical group near their home.”
Members are directed to contact their provider by calling the number found on the back of their coverage ID card.
